Ms. Debbie Claus joins the faculty of The STARS Foundation with 40 years
of experience teaching dance in Springfield, MO. She opened her own
studio when she was just 22 years old after graduating from Missouri State University with a bachelor’s degree in Dance Education. She spent many years teaching classes in ballet, tap, and jazz at her Springfield studio.
Ms. Claus is trained in the Cecchetti method of dance instruction, obtaining certification in classical ballet in 6 of the 7 grades offered by the Cecchetti Council of America. The Cecchetti Method, as described by The Cecchetti Council of America, “is a rigorous method which pays careful attention to the laws of anatomy. It develops all of the qualities essential to the dancer: balance, poise, strength, elevation, elasticity, ‘ballon,’ etc. It is classic in its purity and clear-cut style.”
Ms. Claus has also been qualified by examination and certified to teach by
the Chicago National Association of Dance Masters, Dance Master of America, and Dance Educators of America. She has studied with some of the finest teachers in America, including Roni Mahler - former soloist with Ballet Russe, National Ballet, and American Ballet Theater; Patrick Crommett - Royal Winnepeg Ballet and Royal Swedish Ballet of Stockholm; and Margaret Marsh - former pupil of Maestro Cecchetti and holder of his Advanced Certificate, who was a Fellow of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing in London.
Hannah, one of the Executive Director's many children, is 21 years old. She recently received a dance scholarship to attend American Musical and Dramatic Academy. She returned from L.A. Millennium and studied with Erica Klein, Kyle Hanagami, Matt Steffanina, Blake McGrath, Lando Coffy, Noah Tratree, FLEXX, Rex Kline, Cat Cogliandro, Phil Wright, Peter Styles, Laura Quinn, Nick Lanzisera, Sean Lew, Shaun Evaristo, and Arielle Elonys. She loves teaching dance and has aspirations of being a choreographer.
Hannah has always been an athlete. She says her parents gave her many opportunities to find out what she really loves and wants to do with her life. A gymnast from an early age, her parents enrolled her in competitive gymnastics. By the time she was nine, Hannah was competing in the Junior Olympics. Although she placed in all the events, her greatest love was the balance beam where she consistently scored 9.9's and 9.8's out of 10.
Hannah spent four years training five days a week, working hard because every gymnast knows it's not easy training for the uneven bars or landing a perfect score on the vault. It takes total dedication to do the things you see in the Olympics. Hannah's gymnastics journey came to an end when she injured both her ankles on a layout twist. She struggled for a time but her parents encouraged her to rest. Her experience as a gymnast taught her hard work and dedication.
Around this time, The STARS Foundation was created, and Hannah began to dance and learn to play the cello. She learned the piano at a young age from her mother and now plays seven instruments. Hannah and her sisters have arranged and composed several pieces of music which are featured on their YouTube channel Counterpoint 69. Hannah has performed in many concerts and plays produced by The STARS Foundation. Musical theatre is one of her favorite things to do, and she has performed many roles including: Mushu in Mulan, Ursula in Little Mermaid, Wicked Witch of the West in Wizard of Oz, and Peter Pan in Peter Pan.
Hannah is married to Glenn Stapley, who is currently finishing a Manufacturing Engineering Degree with a minor in Ballroom Dance at Brigham Young University.

She is active in the community and has choreographed for the musicals at the Avenue Theatre and West Plains High School.

I have helped to raise, encourage and inspire over 10,000 dancers through the years and have loved every minute of it. Our children are our future and if I can have a tiny bit of influence on their self-esteem and sense of teamwork through discipline, then I have done my job and given the world a glimpse of the beauty and joy that dance can bring to a student's soul."

When she began playing violin at age 10, Kyleigh immediately fell in love with it and knew it would be a part of her future. She works hard and practices constantly. She studied under Tim Daucher for 4 years and studied with Dr. David Hayes. Kyleigh also enjoyed dancing from a young age, especially tap. After a break from dance classes, she began taking clogging. Kristy knew from a young age that she wanted to teach. At the end of her 5th grade year, she attended a band information meeting where she was told that she didn’t have “flute lips” and that she should play the trumpet. She immediately attended MSU for graduate school and completed her Master of Music with an emphasis in Wind Band Conducting in 2011. While attending university, Kristy performed, both on her trumpet and while conducting, with many music groups including the MSU Wind Ensemble, MSU Wind Symphony, MSU Symphonic Band, as well as various jazz ensemble and pep groups.
She was married to her wonderful husband Ryan on July 6, 2013. The two met while performing in college. Kristy has many hobbies other than music. They include riding one of her three horses, playing with her dog, and watching Cardinals baseball. They now have two adorable children.

Brandy’s musical journey began when she was 8 years old and living in Newark, DE. She enjoyed a very brief stint playing the violin, but then she switched to the cello about a month later and never looked back. She spent the next 12 years playing in a wide variety of small ensembles and orchestras - including six years with the Delaware All-State Orchestra. Her private teacher during that time was Louisa Marks - the principal cellist of the Delaware Symphony. But then her cello fell silent.
Fifteen years later - while living in San Jose, CA - her children’s homeschool choir director wanted a cello accompaniment for some songs, so Brandy dusted off her instrument and started playing again. She later joined the South Bay Philharmonic orchestra.
In 2011 she moved to the Ozarks, and she eventually studied for a while with Dr. Michael Murray of the Springfield Symphony. Brandy currently enjoys playing with several groups including Tres Celli, the Southern Ozarks Community Orchestra, the Mountain Home Symphony, and the STARS Orchestra. She began teaching for STARS in 2021.
